"Understanding surface water and groundwater interactions: Graphing spring flow in the Barton Springs Segment of the Edwards Aquifer, Texas” requires that students examine the relationship between surface water and groundwater at Barton Springs located in Austin, Texas. Barton Springs is part of the Edwards Aquifer, a karst aquifer that provides much of the water to Central Texas. In the activity, sudents construct stream hydrographs to compare precipitation to spring flow based on three time different scales: hourly, daily, and annually.
